Will’s head tilts and his brow furrows. Mike is about to say something else until he sees recognition flash across Will’s face. “Oh.” He laughs- nervously? “We’re just friends, Mike.”
“Okay.” He responds stupidly. Would Will lie about that? Maybe he doesn’t want anyone to know.
“Robin isn’t- she’s not my type.”
“So, what is your type?” Mike asks.
Will flushes. “I don’t know.” He squeaks. “Uh, just- I don’t know. Robin and I are friends though.”

Will blinked surprisedly, then cracked up laughing, “What?” he said, “Fake boyfriend?” he repeated, grinning, “You do realise — you know my boyfriend isn’t fake, right? I do have a boyfriend. For the past year and a half, actually.”
Will Byers’ boyfriend is something of a myth amongst the residents of RISD. Nobody has met him, he supposedly helped to save Will’s life, and he goes to Brown. Seriously… who is this guy?

Mike doesn’t pull away. "I know."

"Keeping up…" Mike exhales a short laugh that Will feels on his neck, "appearances."
