Summary
Five years ago Spencer found himself with a crush. Three years ago, Spencer had accepted he was in love with Morgan, and dreading meeting his soulmate. Hearing the words hey kid from people only brought feelings of anxiety. Who could ever compare to Morgan?
That was then. This is now. Two months ago, Morgan had taken a bullet in the field. Spencer had seen Derek pass out from blood loss, had ripped off his shirt to use as a makeshift tourniquet before EMS arrived, and found the words he'd said five years ago scrawled under Morgan's rib cage. The number of pathogens passed during a handshake is staggering. It's actually safer to kiss.
Spencer doesn't think he's ever felt more alone in his life. The person cosmically bound to him had quietly rejected him years ago and remained friends. Close friends, even. So clearly it was just the idea of Spencer as a romantic partner that was unpalatable.
