He can protect his son, for one, and keep him from going to prison. He can also find his future son-in-law, Robert, and help set him on a better path. And, well, if he's going to help those two, he needs to get their respective best friends, Prism and Coupé, too. He might as well get Waterboy and Punch Up at that point, and then he can't just not get the rest of the team. He wants all his children to be happy, after all. What father wouldn't?
