Many people have magic and how that magic affects them depends on the magic core they poses. Some have simple magic like Kotoha who has telekinesis, others like Umemiya are much rare and can perform more magic as Enchanters.
All the residents of Makochi are excited to hear of all the magic and non-magic users that will join Bofurin and continue to protect their homes and of corse ready to give them all the treat they deserve.
But still, none of them expected a stray cat of all things to be the first one to defend one of their own before the start of the school year.

“Kid?” This time Bobby's voice shakes and Buck doesn't want to imagine what it'd sound like if he decided to stay quiet.

"9-1-1, how can I help you?" A familiar voice responded, and Buck let out a sob, unable to stop the horrible sound it made in the bathroom. It wasn't Maddie thank goodness, it was Josh.
"I...I don't think they are going to let me leave," Buck whispered, trying to cover another whimper but failing miserably. He didn't even think he had the strength or coordination to push himself back up to a standing position.
"Buck? Is that you? Where are you?" Josh said urgently, looking over to where Maddie was sitting and motioned her over frantically.
Another sob escaped, and Buck started crying earnestly now, wrapping his arms tightly around him as he stammered out the address. “I-I think he put something in my drink...” he started to add, having a vague recollection that he should probably tell Josh that when he was interrupted by a loud bang on the door. Buck tucked himself beside the toilet, as far away from the bathroom door as he could get, thankful that he had least had enough presence of mind to lock the door behind him, hoping that it would hold until help arrived.
