Running into a species whose belief system is based on pairs, Janeway and Chakotay find themselves having to get married.
Or; I wanted them to kiss, fake-marriage is always a useful trope, and I couldn't use my living room because my oldest kid had a friend stay over and so I stayed in my room writing this. And the whole thing spiraled. There is quite a lot of feelings in this, doesn't necessarily have a happy ending but yes they kiss. Quite a lot, I must say.
