Summary
And Xiao is once again faced with these thoughts, niggling little things that weed up through his chest and make his heart ache when Aether is not around; he hates the feeling. He hates even more, however, the idea of approaching Aether with the intent of sticking to his side until he inevitably pushes Xiao away. Xiao has never truly longed for closeness before, and he fears he cannot deny that what he wants with Aether is not an emotional intimacy—they have that already—but a physical one.
And that scares him.

Lantern Rite is bright, loud, and overwhelming, everything Xiao usually avoids. But when Aether invites him out for the night, Xiao finds he's unable to resist. They enjoy the festival from its glowing stalls to drifting lanterns, while sharing warm drinks and quieter moments along the way.

Summary
Aether takes a step towards him, and another. Heavy, tired, in everything but his eyes. Xiao uncrosses his arms, opens them, and Aether falls into him like a domino destined to fall.
Aether buries his face on Xiao’s shoulder. Inhaling. Exhaling. Deflates. His hold is tight around Xiao.
“I’m back,” Aether whispers.
Xiao closes his eyes, burying his face in Aether’s golden hair. Xiao holds on just as tight, one hand between Aether’s scapulae and the other a band around his waist. Xiao breathes in moonlight and sweat, the slight spiciness of Aether’s scent underneath everything.
“Welcome home, traveler,” he whispers.

There’s a familiar burn at the back of his throat, the need for another drink, always another drink, and Husk might just follow the call. It’ll make it easier to sleep if everything is fuzzy and blurry. If all his thoughts are muddled and nebulous. They won’t be able to all circle around Angel like fucking vultures.
“Hey! What the fuck are you doing in my—oh.”
Husk whips his head around and has to blink a couple of times to make sure he’s not actually that fucking drunk. He drops the glass onto the plush carpet beneath his feet. “Angel?”

His ears folded back, "Cherri—"
He started and she rolled her eyes, grabbing his suspenders she dragged him in. Closing the door behind him, "I've seen you starin' at his door before." She let him go. "You're aloud to miss him, Husk. We ain't gonna invade shit, now lay down." She pointed at the bed.
___Or, Husk and Cherri are both missing Angel, so they do what's logical and lay in his bed, and talk.

Includes my own fanart which I drew prior to the season end - after the events of episode 6, but I found it inspired me to write something to tide over us weary Huskerdust lovers. Sports fans... we were played.

Husk didn't think much of the nights Angel came back to the hotel unsteady on his feet, gaps in his memory, and complaining of a killer headache. Not until it was too late to do anything but pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Vox's manipulation.

There's a lot to unpack there, if you want to. Husk chooses to play dumb and see if Angel will elaborate. He doesn't like guessing what Angel's thinking.
"Yeah? How've things changed with us?"
With the Hazbin Hotel busier than ever before, Husk and Angel are struggling to adjust to their new lives. Maybe change isn't totally a bad thing, though—not when they still have each other.
