Kaeya pauses mid-step, his face carefully neutral. "Why would you think to inform me of that?"
She stares him down... then shrugs. "Just thought you might like to know he returned with all limbs intact."
"Should I be happy? He's my rival for the throne. I have better things to do than fret over his safety."
She shrugs loosely again. "I mean, I thought you'd be disappointed. Not fret over his safety."
i.e., For his uncle's sake, Kaeya, in a bid for the throne, pretends to be an alpha. After so many years of deceit, it would be pure hubris and delusion not to expect their schemes to come crashing down.

Дилюк всегда думал, что знает его, как самого себя, только вот оказалось, что Кэйа — одна сплошная загадка, мысли которой постичь не дано. Иногда он говорил странные вещи или укладывал слова в предложении так, что разобрать, что же он действительно имел в виду, не представлялось возможным, но, видимо, Дилюк просто был слишком ослеплен его обаянием и кошачьей улыбкой — куда уж там до сомнений в искренности. И пусть ложь Кэйи приводила в ярость, страх потерять его был сильнее.

Summary
Kaeya kept himself behind a carefully constructed wall so that no one would ever become too close to him and get burned like Diluc did ever again. Seemingly transparent, yet unreachable in reality. When he's ambushed out in the wild and finds the breath fading from his lungs, he thinks that it's almost not too bad. As long as Mondstadt is safe and Diluc is happy...what's the problem?
And then he wakes up. Younger than he should be, different, and everyone who sees him looks like they've seen a ghost because Kaeya of House Ragnvindr died fending off the drake that should have killed Crepus. Diluc and Crepus refuse to let go of him now that he's appeared to rise from the dead. Kaeya is different from what they remember - he pushes people away, or tries to - but neither his sanity nor his resolve can keep up his guard around his own family.
What's going on? Why is everything different? Why has his life completely changed?
Maybe none of it matters. Maybe the only thing that matters is the fact he can start over and fall blindly back into the warmth and care he thought was gone forever. His father, and Diluc...who feels more deeply for him than he ever would have thought.
