The Pathologic joke pairing that I'm really into for some reason. Delicious work full of interesting references and nicely convoluted prose.

Summary
Sir Simon Manus pulls him aside one day, his voice as dark as his one eye is bright, and asks Lumacchio if he would like to see part of a God.
"Part?" Lumacchio scoffs, his eyes flicking upwards briefly behind his gilded mask. "All of this fuss, and you do not even have an entire god to show for it?"
(In which a spiral unravels, and the centre will not hold.)

The single most diabolical thing anyone has ever written for me. This is beautiful. Lumacchio being a fucked-up mathematical concept is very dear to me & you've outdone yourself there.

Summary
He’s been marking down the calendar, in secret, as if the date is something to be excited for. One week, now. Five days. Two. Tomorrow, I’ll be older, I’ll be new, I’ll be clean - though of vices, he certainly won’t, he drinks and smokes the same and feels no worse about it. Worse still, the filthy shadow of boyhood follows him each year, a corpse dragged heavyweight behind him that he can’t, won’t let go of, no matter how he ages, that same fear to exist.
Celebrations are in order.

Bookmarker's Notes
Thank you for this stunning work, I'm honoured to receive such a great gift. They break my heart. They make me sad but they also make me very happy, and there's nothing so touching as to see them young and as happy as they can be together, knowing that they are doomed and will drive each other to ruin eventually. It's awful. It's beautiful. I know I'll reread this many times when I need cheering up, or to feel sad in a good way. Thank you again ♥

Summary
He was as inexorable and solid and practical as the train that had brought him here—had brought them both here—and there was something admirable about the whole thing. About his distinctness, especially in this part of town. Daniil approved of it in theory, prided himself on his own distinctness as a man, but something about Burakh’s manner of sticking out nagged at him. It was like a rock stuck in his shoe, one that he couldn't dislodge.

Summary
She saw an exhibit at the Conservatory once—magnets, hundreds of them, shaping designs, powering machines, everything propelled by pulsating motions that drew her in, like she was made of the very same stuff at her core, cold metal. That’s how it’s always been with her and Jack—they let each other in, bit by bit, until something flips and they drive each other away.
Miss White meets Doctor Ramsey at the Boyles' latest ball; things proceed naturally, as always.

Summary
He sees the scholars, every now and then buying herbs and food and chatting to the hunters. At the market, back in April, he spies a red trim along a sleeve, and prays it’s the spiderweb skin his fingertips have memorised, the colour blue set upon a night sky. It never is, but he dreams that night of a bloody breath beneath the stars. A beast rips flesh from cosmos-kissed lips, metal savoured on a tongue, greedily licked from a pallid chin, drunk on gore and holy lust. So what, if his blood is untouched by the gods? He tastes just the same.
Laurence, in the throes of grief, takes a trip to the Nightmare of Mensis.

What honour to have been gifted such a piece- call me a hopeless romantic but for all the horror and grief that riddle this work I'll still be trusting the inevitability of their love; holding on to the thought that they might be saved, if they tried. One must imagine them happy. Thank you <3

Summary
“All stories are about Death, except the ones that are about Life, which by deduction are also about Death. All dreams are about devouring, except the ones that are about throwing up, which by deduction are also about devouring. Everytime Burakh would dream he would eat: he would eat voraciously, passionately. His teeth would tear through the thread binding waking world and sleeping world like he was pulling stitches. Like he was trying to pry himself open. And he was: at the threshold of that wound, between the open lips of this parted cut, laid and lived the snaking path of his ways; the rope he was to walk to the knowledge of the Earth and the knowledge of everything else.”
Burakh comes home to nothing, and to something else entirely. Waking, walking dreams bear witness to him (and he bears witness to them) — a long story about strings of dreams for the dream-eater, and what he finds in that lingering hunger: death and defiance, life and love, and all of their satellites.

Summary
His voice was chthonian and soft to the touch, rounded like the back of a beast as it rolled over his tongue.
Oh, the house was for him. (Or he was for the house.) Maybe it had been the plan since the beginning, or maybe this was a lucky, opportune coincidence; what other people could have called a blessing.
Once they would be gone — dawned upon Petr — he would never come back again, but this place, as him, as his, would stand. The Cathedral, as him, as his, would still stand. The house was not filled with music, but with voice. Felt like it regardless.
They needed to convince the Kains. They had no other choice. What choice was there even to have? We will never know. This is a story about the Oneirotects, about the house that lies still and restless, and about men who do quite the same.

Summary
But as Maria watched the carrion of Kos lay uselessly in the setting sun, all she could think of was the Great One’s patheticness. Mother Kos, chieftain of many pantheons, laid dead at the hands of mortals, whalers. The same whalers that could not even capture a whale without having their compeers severely wounded in the act murdered a Great One in her own territory. While her sentience would live on, her death marked an irrefutable fact about Great Ones. Their flesh was not holy.
The corpse of a Great One washes ashore, and a haunting of water settles in the back of Maria’s mind.
