Apollo first sees Hyacinthus while dancing in armour, and he is immediately smitten. Compared to many times before, he hesitates to immediately reveal himself. The god can't stay hidden forever, however, and both happiness and pain will follow in his path.
But though flowers are only temporary when they bloom, they may bloom again and again, even if it might seem as if cruel winter has killed a beloved plant for good.
