They hadn’t wanted to break up.
They really hadn’t. To the point where they clung to one another and sobbed until they ran out of tears when they finally had the conversation.
It was because of logistics. Steve never planned on leaving Hawkins; he wanted to marry here at home and have a bunch of kids, coach their sports teams and volunteer on the PTA. Eddie longed for the opposite. He wanted to run like hell out of Hawkins, travel across the country with his band, and find a way to get signed out in LA. He wanted to become someone, wanted to do something.

Summary
Sirius has been gone for fifteen months, and a lot has changed. Not least is that Remus has gotten married to someone else. Which might not have been heartbreaking, if it wasn't for the fact that it was only a year after Sirius died. And to his cousin. And to a woman. With a war raging around them, a godson Sirius needs to track down, and a marriage Remus needs to disentangle himself from, the last thing they need is to get swept up in an affair.
If only it were that simple.

Summary
Sirius has made a point to never learn the names of anyone in other Houses. There was no need to, in his astute opinion. Everyone who was not in Gryffindor must lack some intrinsic qualities which would therefore make them utterly intolerable as companions. And the Marauders - all three of them - did not need any intolerable fourths, thank you very much.
i.e, Remus is a Ravenclaw Prefect and Sirius is finding it harder and harder to admit he isn't obsessed with him
