“Does anyone know where Keith is?” Hunk asks, walking onto the bridge where Allura, Shiro, and Coran are all gathered. “They asked me to help them with a couple things on their ship.”
Pidge walks in shortly behind him, “You can’t find him either? They also wanted me to do my cloaking system on their ship before their mission.”
...
She gazes at Hunk, “Shall we go in?”
“I don’t know. I mean, isn’t it a breach of privacy?”
The girl rolls her eyes, “Keith signed away their privacy the moment they became a part of this team. Don’t you remember the whole mind-meld thing that Coran made us do?”
...
Pidge, after a couple seconds, manages to squeak out, “What are you two doing?”
“Not what we’re supposed to.” Matt laughs, though it’s airy and Hunk can hear his nerves.
“I can see that!” Pidge shouts, “Why are you two down here making out! Especially when Keith knew I was coming to help them with repairs!”

Keith asked Pidge and Hunk to do repairs on Black for them but neither of them can find the Blade. They discover that they're in the hangar bay, however they also discover the secret they've been keeping from the team.Series

Before she could turn away, his fingers, clinging and unexpectedly strong, clamped around her wrist. She spun around, barely restraining herself from shaking off his possessive grip. The look that met her gaze struck her speechless.
“I know it sounds insane. It’s impossible to believe, but—” He forced the words out, as if wrenching them from deep within. “I’m his son.”

Summary
Perhaps, when Keith first found out he would be taking Shiro's place as the pilot of the Kerberos Mission, he should have known something would go wrong. They always did when good things happened.
Perhaps, when the people closest to Katie were the farthest from her they'd ever been, she should have guessed it wasn't quite as perfect as it seemed. She'd become quite adept at detecting flaws, anomalies, and all manner of bugs.
When Shiro broke the good news to Keith, it seemed as if things were finally looking up for the kid. And for a while, that was true. But he couldn't have known what would happen on that ill-fated mission. He couldn't have prepared the mission crew for it, or made some far-fetched attempt to shield them from it. The reality of it will haunt him, regardless.
Post-Landing explosion. Yeah right.
The universe sure loves its give and take.
