They were finally free. The sky had returned to its natural blue, the ground closed up, and the fog of black smoke no longer hung over Hawkins. Mike had to keep reminding himself of that fact. Everything was perfect.
Maybe too perfect.
OR
Post season 5 fix-it, where everyone was Vecna'ed and the world did "end," and now they have to figure out how to get back home. But the way to get home might suck more than if they were to stay in the messed up, distorted version of Hawkins. At least for Mike.

Summary
After losing her powers, her father, and most of her close friends in one fell swoop, El needs an outlet. She also needs to learn how to read and write and speak. Basic life skills. She desperately needs her friends. She needs to learn how to stand up for herself.
Honestly, El needs a lot of things.
What she finds, instead, is a snarky, sullen boy. Ambitious, and uncaring of others’ opinions. He doesn’t really teach her any of those things.
He does teach her how to throw a punch.
Or: Soulmates are a thing, and this changes a few things while the Byers are in Lenora.

Summary
Several months after the events of the Panopticon, Jon and Martin are happily settled into Hawkins. It's a small town where nothing happens, and after the life they led, its all they could ask for. Jon's got his job teaching high schoolers literature, Martin's working at a small diner, and they've even got a cat! Sure, Jon complains about having to help a coworker run an AV Club at a middle school, but at heart he's glad that's the 'worst' part of his job.
And then Will Byers disappears.
