Augie laughed and struggled playfully, and Colin rescued him. He stood with his nephew propped up on his shoulder, holding him up in the unsteady seat. “Don’t worry. She gets me with that hair, too. But what you have to watch out for is how she will tell you that you are friends for years, then suddenly unleash an armageddon of loveliness on you, and continue to say you are friends. It is going to be the end of your Uncle Colin. I beg you to bring flowers to my grave and shake your head sadly that Auntie Penelope finished me off with our forty-seven children,” he said. “And a dog, because after the tenth baby we are doomed anyway.”
