Peter sort of expects trash-talk from other players just because he is the youngest guy on his team, but that's hockey for you. Some jackass is jealous because Peter's probably the best goalie in the league, and wants to mouth off about Peter's mom? He'll just grin and do his best to rub their faces in how awesome he is.
But as Peter gets older, the insults get more personal and harder to shrug off. Because if the guys knew the truth about him? They'd eat him alive.
Chirping is part of the game of hockey, and Peter Quill just needs to learn how to deal.

On the edge of the Andromeda Galaxy there is an asteroid. On this asteroid is a space station. In this station is the bar called The Dark Aster. And the humourless being who runs it is a young Kree named Ronan.
Alone, exiled and disgraced, all Ronan wants is to run his business and find a way to redeem his maimed honour. Too bad a certain impudent, mobile peace-disturbance that calls himself Star-Lord has taken to haunting his bar.
An AU set in the Marvel cinematic universe where Peter Quill and Ronan meet in their mid-twenties.

Astarion is not expecting the question, Halsin can tell by the way he jerks upright, spine straight, shoulders strong.

Halsin swallows, rewords his question. “How old were you when you were turned?”
Astarion goes quiet. Extremely, cacophonously quiet.
“Thirty-nine,” he finally says, a bolt straight into Halsin’s heart.

Tav tucks a strand of hair behind one of Astarion's delicately pointed ears. "That's the sweetest thing anyone's ever said to me."
