If he stays quiet, no one can ask him questions he’s never going to be able to answer. It’s better for him to be quiet since his mind is never quiet. It’s a never-ending cycle of awful flashbacks and memories he would rather forget about. If he had the option to erase the last almost 9 years of his life, then maybe he wouldn’t feel so destroyed, and that’s how he feels.
