Summary
Arabella’s goal is simple: last until Threshing without getting caught. However, things start out pretty poorly as Xaden Riorson, first marked rider and second-year squad leader (to the leadership’s dismay), seems to be able to sense her forbidden signet power the second they meet. Arabella must survive until Threshing, not because she needs a dragon to make it out of the Riders Quadrant alive, but because she has a dragon and she’s not supposed to. What she needs is a cover story for former mishaps, and an opportunity to enact vengeance for her mother’s execution.

“Why do you smell like that?” Neteyam asked.
“I was in the brewing den,” she explained, “for work.”
He leaned in again, sniffing the air around her, closer this time, even burying his face in her hair. “This doesn’t smell like kava…” he muttered, his voice laced with confusion.
She rolled her eyes, “Kava has always smelled like that, Neteyam.”
“No, it doesn’t,” he argued.
“Yes, it does! How else would it smell, then?”
“It—it’s supposed to be sweeter,” Neteyam stammered, “Like how you usually smell!”
She stared at him for a moment, confused. “What…?”⬷ Update Schedule: Spontaneous but maybe once or twice a month.
So... apparently, I haven't finished writing the story before Avatar Fire and Ash. (◞‸◟)
