    Sandrone visibly paled. The consequence of her actions had bore fruit. Actions that Rosalyne warned her to be careful about. Her decisions that Arlecchino thought she should rethink because it might only satisfy her own ego.

    Both advice from her friends that knew her better and thought well to warn her when she had told them, once, because Sandrone got tired of mulling over it by herself.

    Both advice she ignored, in favor of being self-righteous.

    …And it was Columbina’s feelings that took the brunt of it.

    Sandrone’s thumb brushes against the smear of chocolate. Warm. Smooth. She holds Columbina’s wrist steady and brings her own lips to the mark instead.

    The sweetness is almost overwhelming.

    Columbina inhales softly.
