The same strange two toned voices echoed out from their helmet. Simon lay shocked for a second before trying his best to croak out something. A cough of blood sprayed out of his mouth, no dought his lungs trying to push whatever was stuck in them out. He felt the Captain’s hand pat his shoulder as he tried to splutter out a word.
“Its…its Simon” his voice was raw, it came out more of a whimper than a word.
“Hello Simon…welcome to the Invincible 2”

Simon was seconds away from dying a horrific death. Blood filling the submarine, being in the jaws of an eldritch monster, his arm torn off, and countless other things. It seemed like a certain end, until he's suddenly surrounded by a blue light and spat out onto a ship he doesn't recognize, no longer drowning in blood or torn to shreds by rows of teeth.
Soon after, the Captain and the Head Engineer of the ship find him and, after quickly understanding he's from another universe (and from the looks of it, a bad one), actually decide to help him, healing his fatal wounds, and welcoming him to their colony, letting him stay for however long he likes.
For Simon, it feels like it's too good to be true. A universe where the Quiet Rapture never happened, COI and Eden non-existent, and finally given a proper second chance to redeem himself from years of being "The Butcher". That is until he realizes that the cause of the Rapture haunts him still, both in mental and physical ways, and that may not only ruin his second chance at life...but this new universe as well...

Eventually, Simon opens his eyes.
He was drowning, he's pretty sure – but this isn't the first time his brain has been fucked with since he allowed himself to be welded into this death-tube. At least this time, he's not vomiting up blood on the floor of the sub.
He's not sure where he is, though. It looks like the inside of the sub, still, but everything is tinged red and his vision's a bit wobbly, like he's peering through water. He's sprawled on the floor with his back against the camera controls, and the navigation panel is obscured by something that looks like a thicket of branches that wavers in his unsteady view.
Also, there's a dog sitting on the floor in front of him.

The kid’s moved a little closer, hoping to supervise, or something similar. He’s watching Mike’s hands like he’s getting trained by them, following every movement intently with his eyes. “…You sure we got time for eating and shit?” he asks then. “I thought we had, like, a schedule.”
“You let me worry about time.” Mike keeps layering in what deli meat had been in the fridge. “In the future,” he says, “don't start work on an empty stomach.”
(Jesse’s not taken care of very often. Mike is dead set on changing that, even if it’s just by making him a meal.)
