Late at night, Atsushi is left alone with his thoughts. Those thoughts somehow go from thinking about how nice working at the agency has been to the orphanage. (Un)fortunately for Atsushi, he has ways to cope.
It's one of those nights.Moral of the story: don't let Atsushi simmer in his own thoughts.

Summary
Atsushi wakes up in the middle of the night, feeling entirely disoriented. A younger, idiotic Dazai would have taken to it like a fish out of water. This Dazai - older, gentler, living in the world of the light - struggles to imagine anything less than simply being there for him.

Summary
It didn't fully cut the skin. The edge of the blade seemed less sharp than the sides, so perhaps that's why. But it did not fully go without blood. It was less than deep, a cat scratch. Atsushi was no cat, so he went again. This time, despite his brief discomfort, he used the sides–he went fast, and he went with pressure.
Atsushi puts the blade he stole to use, whelmed by guilt and shame.
