If someone had told McCoy he’d be helping co-babysit a young Vulcan with an adult Vulcan he found irritating to no end on the maiden voyage of Starfleet’s flagship shortly after the destruction of an entire planet, he would’ve laughed in their face, then checked them over for signs of head trauma.
As it happened, he would probably be the one who’d need to get his head checked after this whole ordeal.
Or: In the aftermath of the destruction of Vulcan, McCoy finds himself connecting with a young Vulcan girl in need of a family. As he juggles the stresses of his job and responsibilities, another connection forms between him and Spock, surprising both McCoy and everyone else.

Summary
Buck had finally understood... it had taken him 3 months, 3 months of silences and angry looks, of orders given coldly and endless lists of tasks at the station, of people leaving when he sat down at the table, of conversations stopping when he arrived.
3 months but he had finally understood: Station 118 did not forgive and those he had fought for had turned their backs on him.
3 months but it had become clear to him: he was not welcome there and that was not his family, it never had been.And now all that was left was to let go.
But a call and a girl who reminds him too much of himself could be the solution to the cold in his life and his heart.

Summary
There's no denying the way Jim looks at Spock, hungry and wanting. So the logical solution- to quote their favourite Vulcan- is to invite Spock to share their bed. But of course, Leonard's feelings don't end up being very logical at all.
Or, the one where Bones just wants to make Jim happy, even if it means making himself miserable.
