Charles Xavier knew his relationship with his sister was strained so when she brought someone, a doctor/scientist, into the mansion who claimed he could help them on their quest to have rights for mutants. He did his best to go along with his sister’s wishes. However a mission with the man later he wished he had trusted his gut. It could’ve saved him from that lab.

Sometimes it felt as though Charles wasn’t seen as a mutant. It seemed they only acknowledged his abilities when they were needed or bothersome to the others. He’s been told he doesn’t understand what it’s like to hide a part of yourself that others fear or hate. He’s been told that he’s invasive when he reads their surface thoughts, when he responds to thoughts he assumed they said out loud with how loudly and pointedly they were thinking.

Mental silence fell between them—Charles was still there, drifting carefully in the center of Erik’s thoughts, but he was thinking, guarding the quiet metronome of his thoughts from Erik.
