He’s in between two thoughts; what to eat when he gets home and what comic he should either start or finish when he makes a terrible, unpredictable mistake.
He boot hits something large and metal, and suddenly the snow beneath his footstep jumps up, huge metal teeth protruding from underneath, they sink themselves into the flesh of his ankle, white hot pain renders him entirely mute as he stands on one leg, blinded by the pain that jerks through his lower half of his body.
He falls into the snow, his trapped leg now bent at an odd angle, courtesy of the weight of the bear trap he’s stepped in that keeps it from tipping over, his face pressed against melted snow and that’s when he finally screams.

When Raph growls again, Mikey rolls his eyes and examines his watch-less wrist, “Not that I’m not enjoying the Argue-with-Raph Hour, but I gotta Go. Look, y’know what? Let’s make a Bet.”
Raph’s face twitches, his terrible poker face already giving him away like it always does when he plays cards with Master Splinter and Casey, “...What kinda bet?”
“You let me go in alone, and if I have to call for help, send out the ol’ distress beacon, then I’ll do your chores for the next month.”

Mikey makes a bet with Raph to leave him alone on a mission and regrets it a little bit.

Summary
It is then, as his eyes travel to follow Michelangelo, that Leo spots the way the water is dripping thicker now, seeping through the concrete of the ceiling. There are signs he has carelessly neglected – the cracking on the stone, the groaning of pipes around them. His cheerful mood snaps.
Something must reflect this in his expression; Mikey pauses, a few feet ahead of him, face twisting to concern.
“Leo –“ he begins, but is interrupted when everything shudders. Rubble drizzles, then throws itself upon them as the roof collapses under the strain of the water pipes.
For a moment, Leonardo’s eyes meet his youngest brother’s and see the terror flash inside them. He barely has time to take another breath before the world caves in, and everything goes black.~
While the brothers are out exploring a new sewer system, the whole thing collapses. With no way to get out and separated from each other, they all face their own struggles, injuries and fears as they fight to survive and find each other.
TLDR: a sewer caves in. Leonardo and his brothers are trapped because I like angst.
