“Anakin, Anakin. That’s an Outer Rim name if I’ve ever heard it.”
“What’s it to you?” Immediately jumping to offense again, Obi-Wan had no choice but to cut a look in the boy’s direction. He had a similar expression to a lothcat who didn’t want to be bathed.
“It was only an observation. You are very quick to anger.”
“I am not-” White teeth bared at him, and Obi-Wan could imagine the fur on his hackles raising. “Angry,” Anakin gritted out the word. Then, he snapped up his glass and took a gulp. Immediately, his eyes fluttered as Anakin tried to hold down a burning cough.
Obi-Wan swirled his liquor and let the scent that wafted up briefly cover up the odor of death-stick smoke. “People tend to drink whiskey slow - it’s a drink you want to savor.”
“Why? Tastes awful,” Anakin spat.
Obi-Wan lifted a shoulder. “For some of us, bitter heat is all we’ve ever known. Of course we would want it in our drinks, our food, our…beds.” His eyes scraped down Anakin’s broad frame. He flicked out his tongue and tasted the whiskey residue on his own lips.

He's doing it for Anakin. Helping his padawan learn patience, tempering his impulsivity, guiding him as best he can no matter the situation.
It's all in Anakin's best interest Obi-Wan tells himself, time and time again. So long as Anakin benefits from what they do together, it's the right thing.
(This justification is flimsy, but he clings to it with such strength that he even convinces himself. Anakin is just along for the ride — he doesn't really have a choice in the matter.)
They've returned to their rooms after sparring, flushed and laughing and close enough that the very air feels heated between them. Once the door has closed, Obi-Wan turns to Anakin, smiling, takes Anakin's jaw in the cup of his hand and kisses him like the first blush of spring.
"You'll be good for me, won't you?" he murmurs, and Anakin does nothing more than dreamily nod because he knows just what to do when he's slipped under like this. Knows his job is to be obedient and pliant and good.
