They start to want to hold on to her too, even as she tries to stay away. But the Drift already ruined her once, and she doesn't have the strength to risk it happening again.

The gentle sea had finally betrayed them. Its waters were no longer a crystal clear blue, but instead a deep purple that towered over and swallowed the fishing dock and pier.
