The whirring of the transporter was about as worrisome as the beeping on a biobed monitor. When the figure in the transporter materialized, they collapsed right on the pad. His hair was disheveled, his face peaceful, and he wore a Bajoran faith earring.
He wasn’t awake.
In fact, when she saw the man’s face, she felt worse. It wasn’t possible. He looked younger than before; he looked completely uninjured; he seemed perfectly right.
Hands latched onto hers. His eyes opened for a second, staring into her soul. “Nerys,” he breathed.
“Get Doctor Bashir,” she ordered no one in particular. She stared back. “We’ve just beamed up Dukat.”

Elegant and reserved Katrina Cornwall, exemplary student majoring in psychology, is not going to be pulled into her orbit. It's just an interesting case, a diamond in the rough. A great mentoring opportunity.
Turns out, Philippa has a thing or two to teach her as well.
