Wilbur gently rubbed circles on his back, easing out the tension in his shoulders. His sleeping shirt—which used to belong to Wilbur—hung off his thin frame. “Shh… you won’t get chosen. You’re fine,” he tried to reassure him, pulling up the thin blanket that had been kicked down to the foot of the bed and draping it over Tommy to conserve some of the quickly fleeting warmth. “Your name’s only in there once, remember?”
Tommy sniffed and pressed his face into Wilbur’s shoulder. “You’re sure?”
He nodded. “I’m sure.”
