Summary
In a world split between technology and magic, Red lives in the tech city of Wonderland, where magic is forbidden and the Queen of Hearts rules with an iron fist. Unbeknownst to Red, she showed signs of magic as a child, and when her mother tried to get rid of the power in her veins, the procedure ended in Red having to hide bird wings she was never supposed to have.
Tired of her life in Wonderland, Red fakes her death and escapes to Auradon, where she enrolls in their local magic school and is thrown into a world of spellwork, strange traditions, and a school-wide tournament testing Red's strength and secrets. As the challenges grow more dangerous, Red must take control of her powerful magic, discover the truth of her mother’s past, and reckon with the connection she shares with a rival she was never supposed to care about. When the lines between reality and illusion start to blur, Red must face the truth and decide who she wants to be–before it’s too late.
