Having left the remains of Villedor out of guilt, Aiden hits the road again to forget his wrongs. With Hakon tagging along with him, the two connect more and more along their route to New Paris, where the Nightrunner hopes to find new opportunities. Aiden slowly begins to find himself growing feelings for the older man, as does the French man too; both pining after each other but not wanting to burst that bubble of comfortability.
Eventually, along their trek across Europe, they are forced to stay put in a large enclave in France. Unbeknownst to them, they’ve been thrusted into new territory, new dangers, and new obstacles to overcome.
This will put them to the test. To see whether their newfound connection could continue strong or fade out. Whether these new evils are capable of taking them out. Whether Aiden is strong enough to push past the demons inside him.
Whether being a monster is the only way for one to try and stay human.

He'd let his hands wander, attention turning down as he fumbled for the buttons on my pants, the urgency evident in his hastened attempts to get the first one undone. A couple seconds of frustration lapsed before he'd given up on them entirely and clumsily slipped a cold hand down the band of my pants, warranting a small gasp. Skipping a beat, he pulled back; eyes too close to make out anything beyond a blurred color.
“Shit,” it came out breathy.
“Yeah,” catching his own breath, “We uh… we should,” his nose nuzzling against mine, dangerously close to reengaging.
“Uhh…Hakon said "hurry', so…” Putting a hand on his chest, applying pressure; I half wanted round 2, half wanted to crawl in a hole and die.
