Being dead isn't as easy as Nick Wilde thought it would be. Chased by government agents, shadowy black ops, and mammals with supernatural abilities, the poor fox has never had it so rough. At least he has the bunny cop on his side. What the hell is an Eidolon, anyway? Gore, death, and lots of screaming. Looking for interested betas and/or coauthors.

Fell in love with this a long time ago. Saving it now, for posterity.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Read this aloud to myself six times in six (yes, six) different accents. It sounds best in Continental Spanish, by the way, as it was always meant to be read.

(Don't do Irish unless you've had as many Dos Equis as I've used accents. Irish accents are for poetry, song, humour, and barfights, not for sebastian being sexy.)

    (....well. i say sexy.)

    Summary

Quite by accident, Vimes finds Vetinari in a bit of a predicament as he negotiates with some "foreign ambassadors". Unfortunately, it's not the sort of predicament that one necessarily escapes unscathed. Vetinari is predictably Vetinari about it all, and Vimes just doesn't hold with that sort of thing.

Against the dark, Vetinari saw the Commander’s outline writhe in place, and the red symbol partially disappeared as Vimes obscured its glow beneath his hand.

“Sir—” Vimes spoke through gritted teeth, though his voice was returned to normal, “—please stop baiting the godsdamned thing!”

“I was only making conversation,” Vetinari replied.

Vimes thought: What information are you gathering, Vetinari? You didn’t tell me not to tell anyone else, other than keeping it out of the paper. Are you testing me? Haven’t you already tested me? Do you want to see what I do, who I tell, how I proceed? How many moves ahead do you think I can think—do you want me to think? You didn’t hide how you felt. Did you? You always hide how you feel. Is this what you feel? How can I tell? Why is this different? Is this different? Am I overthinking this because… because of…

Vimes said: “Will that be all, sir?”
