“Merry, come to bed.”
Boromir sounded tired, voice the deep rumble of exhaustion. Merry didn’t look up from the paper he was marking notes on; his eyes burned, made worse by the flickering light of the candles – he was most of the way to a headache. But the hobbit had things to do that tied him to this desk. This is what he gets for learning herbalism; Strider was so busy with the weight of his crown that the health of their pack had fallen onto Merry’s shoulders. Health that no one seemed to want to mind.
