Uzi Doorman did both.
Alternatively, Uzi kicks Cyn's ass, saves the universe and gets the guy of her dreams. The hard part is everything that comes after.

She's a woman on a mission, stubborn as hell: once her mind is locked on something, she'll fight tooth and nail until she got it. Unfortunately for the zombies, her mission is clear, live a long life and find her parents in the devastated world she found herself in.

N just wanted to escape his past- leave behind the continuous abuse and experimentation. Whilst chasing freedom, he gets severely injured. Uzi, exploring the forest surrounding her town, finds the golden retriever on the brink of death. She decides to save him and take him in, but unknown to her, he was more than a helpless dog.
Or
N has the ability to transform into a dog and Uzi takes him in as her pet, being none the wiser. N doesn't know how to reveal to her that he isn't just a dog, but a human guy.
