Damian gritted his teeth, pointedly not allowing sadness, let alone grief, wash through him. “He entered the building seventeen minutes ago. He checked in at five minutes to report drugs and five traffickers, but no victims yet. He failed to check in at the ten minute mark. At the fifteen minute mark, I started toward the building when it exploded.”

Summary
As Jason plots his revenge on Bruce, he puts together a detailed schedule of his day-to-day activities, which is always consistent, until one day he deviates. Following him, Jason discovers him standing in the cemetery, speaking to his grave.
---“I...haven't visited recently,” he remarked softly. “I’m sorry.” Jason’s eyes narrowed in confusion, hearing not only his apology, but the gentle tone of it. Bruce’s thumb swiped in circles around the leather cover of the book he held firmly in his hands. “I was going to, like usual,” he confessed. “But I- I called Tim by your name, again."
Again? Jason could feel his heart thudding a little harder as he leaned closer, trying to hear his father’s words, which were quiet, clearly meant and thought to be private between him and the dead.
“Alfred rebuked me for it and said I needed to try to move on,” he added, pausing to swallow the lump in his throat. “I don’t think Alfred’s ever lost his son, though, because if he had, he would know I can’t.”

One late night on his patrol as Batman, Bruce Wayne happens upon a tiny, injured songbird abandoned in an alleyway. A robin. It feels like forever since his own Robin has been gone, yet he knows it's scarcely been two weeks. He's not sure why he nurses the songbird back to health, but he does so anyway. It makes him feel a little more at peace.

"For the first time in weeks, Bruce stops patrol before the rise of dawn. It’s barely two in the morning, but he thinks only of the little bird as he makes his way back to the Batmobile. However, while he drives back home to the manor, he doesn’t think of the bird in his palm. Rather, his thoughts are filled by another certain little robin, decked in green, yellow, and red, giggling at his side. He presses the bird to his chest with one hand as he steers with the other. He wonders if he’ll be able to help this one. While the bird is small, it’s still clearly strong."
