Ymir smiles. Historia can barely see it out of the corner of her eye, and—though she's seen the action a million times before—it’s as if she finally understands the paintings she’d seen in the churches; ones which presented deities surrounded in a light to portray them as if they were their own god.
For the first time in her life, she understands why people would worship the pieces of art told to have power over them. They're beautiful.
The setting sun's light just behind her gravitating itself towards whatever pull it’s prescribed, circling the dark head of hair from behind, casting a shadow in dark freckles. Almost as if Ymir were…glowing.
Ymir, she was that deity.
Or: It's been seven years, and yet Historia's still dreaming about her. She's still dreaming about them…

Summary
Historia is a lucky girl; she lives in a big house in a big city, with pretty dresses and shiny shoes and more toys than she knows what to do with.
She doesn't know much, but she knows she wants more. She isn't sure exactly what -- she's only seven, after all.
But when her uncle invites her to spend a summer on his farm down the street from a girl with freckles and pretty eyes and a heart bigger than anyone her size ought to have, Historia thinks she might have it figured out.
