Donnie blinked, but nodded. “You don't have to tell me twice.” He swiped across his gauntlet, activating the protocol, and that’s when he realized.
His Donnie Pods were a worst case scenario measure. He’d designed one to the specs of his entire family, and they were custom made, intended for each specific family member. They’d never had to use the pods before, they were still technically in beta as he’d not run all the tests he would have liked.
And he’d only met Casey an hour ago. He didn’t have an escape pod for him. And usually that wouldn’t be a problem. But now they were a pod short when it really counted.
He didn't have enough.

In truth, Donnie had known it all along. Even in this best-case scenario, only one of them could get out of this place. Mikey and Raph couldn’t sustain the portal, and the added weight of both Leo and Donnie together would have only made the strain worse. Donnie could see the cracks charging further up Mikey’s entire body and knew they didn’t have long. Much like Donnie and Leo, they were tired.
Not to mention that with Raph balancing Mikey’s energy (from the looks of it) and reaching out, there was no one to stop the Kraang from coming out with them.
And, well, Donnie had long given himself that role when he was first left on the platform. When he made this plan with Leo. When he had told him three of the four steps with such confidence that Leo didn’t know otherwise.
So, he’d known. He knew all along that it had to be Leo to get out. The better twin.

The Kraang are ready. Their plan to take over Earth has been running smoothly for centuries, and they only have the final steps of their plan left to finally gain their second home... Until the turtles come around. No matter what they do, they can't seem to defeat them. The mutants knock down every tower they build and all the progress they make, and now the Kraang are getting desperate.
But they have the technology, the interdimensional portals, and the mind control devices... and so they hatch a plan. It's a plan that cannot possibly fail. After all, who would be better to defeat the turtles than the turtles themselves?
