This question kept nagging me: What if Darrow never escaped the Jackal's table? What would the world be like? Who would still be alive?
Darrow dies at the hands of the Jackal, Virginia goes on to forge that alliance with the Sovereign to get back in the good graces of Society. She marries Cassius who agrees to help protect her son, and pass him off as Cassius's own. Semi-short fic about Cassius as a father and his contemplation of the world without Darrow.

Summary
Back when Stiles was in high school he did neither have an all-consuming heart-shaped crush on Derek nor was he desperately in lust with him. Derek is staggeringly handsome, sure, but Stiles got used to it years ago, when the most striking features of Derek were murderous intent, big teeth and glowing eyes. He used to think of Derek with plenty of homicidal anger, annoyance, a healthy dose of fear and eventually grudging affection. None of these past associations explains the breath-stealing sex that had just happened.

Stiles is (still) single when the pack's getaway to the Caribbean comes by (oh misplaced optimism); lucky for him Derek is committed to being uncommitted and even after all these years is still powerless against Stiles' unique forms of persuasion.
Cue a romantic getaway for two: sun, sand, and sarcasm abound...and the two roped into competing in the Resort's version of the Newlywed game. Only it's completely obvious it's going to end in disaster. Probably homicide.
