    "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves".

Too caught up with bonding with the prince of Ithaca, Athena does not respond to Odysseus's cries for help. An already broken man endures Calypso's torment for eleven years, and vows to escape by any means necessary.

Poseidon, meanwhile, has been searching for the king, unaware of what his brother has done to him. When he learns that the man he was supposed to destroy is already broken, he is less than pleased.

    Summary

Odysseus had done it. He had escaped Calypso’s island, he had survived it, he was going home. Hermes appeared and gave him tips on how to finally get home. The distance that was left, he could do it, he was sure he could. But the keyword Hermes used stuck in his mind, it was going to be dangerous.

As if everything else he has already faced hasn’t been, how bad could the rest of the miles possibly get?

Oh, yeah there’s still a pissed off God of the seas, lurking in the dark after him.

    Summary

“Instead of me choosing.. Could I perhaps persuade you of another path?” he said, his voice more stern and sure of himself. Zeus raised an eyebrow “Go ahead! Quite unexpected, but I'll hear you out.”

“God's enjoy the praise and love they get from us mortals. The devotion. The passion and sacrifices. Well.. How about we give that to you? I offer you 50 men, including myself, as devotes to the gods.”

    OR

An alternate path where Odysseus offers their devotion in exchange for mercy, and to avoid any more men dying. Once everyone agrees, the gods pick among the group and hijinks ensue.

    Summary

“Enlighten me, Odysseus. What do you value most?” Patience was a waning thing in Zeus’ tone, the god leaning in close and as smothering as the humid front of a storm. A strong hand grasped Odysseus’ jaw, bringing in the king nose to nose to with a god who now stood to scale with the man atop the deck.

The unblinking eyes of his crew and the electric gaze of a king upon him, nowhere to run and none to outwit. To persuade? Odysseus raised his chin in Zeus’ grasp, shrugging off his tattered tunic from his shoulder, “There are many roads to settle a debt owed, no?”

The fingertips digging into his jaw slackened for but a moment, the gall of a mortal making Zeus briefly falter before he spoke, “Persuade me then.”
