A stretch of silence fills the air, and Nahida looks up at the Wanderer, her ears drooping with sudden worry. “Did I say something wrong?”
The Wanderer drops down a meticulous wall of neutrality across his expression and tone. “No.”
“Oh,” Nahida relaxes, but uncertainty still clouds her expression. “Okay. Sorry... I just don’t really understand.”
“That’s fine,” the Wanderer assures her. He pauses for a moment, then kneels down to her eye level—ignoring the sheer informality of the gesture. “Look at it this way: even if you don’t need it, you have someone to talk to for the time being—much less boring than being alone, don’t you think?
Nahida temporarily loses most of her memory, and the Wanderer is tasked with supervising her until she recovers.
