That is until a run-in with the law and a DNA test shatter the carefully constructed facade that Peter had made his life.

“Your blood matches a sample the FBI has on file from a kidnapping case.” Agent Carisi opens the thicker file. “A four-year-old boy taken while on vacation with his father about twenty years ago.”
Peter’s breathing speeds up.
“Authorities took fingerprint and DNA samples from the boy’s room, and at the father’s behest, we continue to test them against any that are placed within any system we have access to.”
A piece of paper with lab results lays atop the file. It gets picked up and placed on the table.

Summary
In an alternate universe, Wade Ripple follows his dreams of making music. His parents are supportive and caring throughout his journey at a young age. One day he is scouted by Ty Phuong, an old producer looking for young talent. He uses Wade to form a boy band with 4 members; Angel Falls, Font Sailor, Creek Mill, and Wade Ripple. The members formed the band known as Mainstream. They experience almost instant success because of Wade's excellent writing ability.
However, what initially seemed like a dream come true, quickly became Wade's worst nightmare. In the wake of his father's death, he finds himself stuck in fear of letting his parents' dreams for him die. After the band's first world tour, they end up back in Element City where their manager booked them a room in a run-down hotel in Firetown. That's when Wade unexpectedly meets a fire woman in a random fire shop he visits one late night.

“Mr. Stark,” Peter whispered, suddenly feeling very, very sick.
“Mhm?” Mr. Stark hummed, patting his knee.
“I- I don’t think I can do this. I’ve tried really hard to m-make myself want it, b-but I just don’t. I know you- but I can’t. I just can’t.”
Mr. Stark removed his hand and looked at Peter questioningly. “What are you talking about?”
Peter drew in a shaky breath, feeling the burn as tears fell down his cheeks. “I know you want me to be your- your- I don’t know, but I just can’t be that for someone again, it’s so- so much, and you’re married, you have a daughter, and it’s- I’m sorry. It’s just, it’s too- and I don’t even like you like that, I- I’m sorry.”
Now he’d done it, now Mr. Stark would be looking at him with a heartbroken expression, hurt and betrayed and…
Peter looked up at the man only to see nothing but shock and confusion on his features.
“Peter… Do you think that I have… romantic feelings for you?”

Three months after his existence was erased, Peter Parker was not doing so well. His solace came from knowing that at the very least he had managed to save his city in the end.
Apparently, though, Peter realized as Doctor Strange explained to him that he had to give up even more, losing everything-and-then-some just wasn't enough.
OR
The multiverse continues to collapse in on itself. Doctor Strange discovers the source of the problem as Peter Parker. The only viable solution is to remove Peter from his original universe so that no more entities will be drawn to his presence there.
Peter is sent to a world that lost its Peter Parker, and finds himself lost in a sea of people he'd grieved who had all grieved him in kind.

"I-I put so much energy into all of it, for it to be erased in a second. Everything I ever did in my life meant nothing, except for Spider-Man. Spider-Man saved people's lives then, and he still does. Spider-Man is the only piece of my life that ever mattered, because he's the only part that even means anything now. "

After the events of No Way Home, Peter Parker is not surprisingly, all alone. Struggling to keep up in school, manage Spider-Man and keep his mental health somewhat afloat, Peter wishes he had some of his friends from his past life.
But when Peter posts on his social media one night, everyone begins wondering who he is, and why he appears to be in their life prior to this.

Peter hasn't spoken to Tony in two months - not since their argument. It had been stupid really, and looking back Peter wasn't sure if he could even pinpoint what started it, but he hadn't been back to the Tower since. He had been too ashamed of his behaviour to face Tony, and had no intentions to return. But then, his class field trip is announced - to Stark Industries.
Peter is determined to keep his head down, swallow his hurt at the genius' rejection, and get through this trip as smoothly and painlessly as possible.
Tony isn't interested in seeing him anyway.
