Summary
It’s none of Gale’s business, it really isn’t, but the summer air outside is sweltering and he hates the idea of the man having to wait around to catch another train if he’s missed his stop. And though he’s never noticed if the man has ever recognised him, he likes to believe that there’s some chivalry and kindness still alive in the world. He prefers to think that if their situations were reversed, that the stranger would do the same for him, after months of making the same commute almost every day.
Gale and Astarion ride the same train to work and home almost every day, but haven't interacted.

He is excited to celebrate Dragondown with Astarion. The vampire has taken to most other cultural events and festivals with delight; he’d thrived at Simril and absolutely loved Liar’s Night. Gale rather thinks Astarion will enjoy the parade and the pantomime of the dragon-slaying, especially after they’d fought against both an alive and an undead one during their adventures together.
Gale wants to take Astarion to celebrate the Summer Solstice in Waterdeep, but has to surmount the little sunlight-problem first.

There are some nods of agreement. Karlach pouts.
“I’ve got one,” Gale says, quietly.They share spooky stories around the bonfire, except they don't have much to work. Gale shares a piece of fiction from his university days instead.

Astarion was thoroughly confused by his boss. He had been hired as a personal assistant, but Astarion hardly sees him. Gale Dekarios leaves him notes on the fridge with a list of tasks to do and that he’s upstairs if Astarion has any questions. He knows he is real and he’s not just hallucinating: he’s seen far too many empty coffee pots and can constantly hear him moving around.
