He’s fourteen and headless— or perhaps headfull, too stuck in his own skull and his own spine and the squeezing feeling of his skin to ponder much about the outside of it. Still, he’s young and stupid, and he looks at Patrick’s tongue as it unceremoniously licks a renegade splouch of mayo from the corner of his mouth, and he thinks, I want to kiss it. It is a deliberately vague term, castrating tongues from shit-eating smirks and perpetually amused smiles and wild curls that tickles Art’s jaw when they fight over the remote; splitting it from Patrick, from the meaningful.
