When he came out of his thoughts his breathing had regulated and Neteyam was looking at him with the most innocently confused look on his face. “Ao’nung?” He asked, reaching out to touch his arm. “Lost you there for a second. Are you alright?”
His eyes were wide and concerned, pouty lips curved downward endearingly.
Ao’nung coughed and fixed his shirt, flustered. It was a foreign feeling to Ao'nung. “Ah, yeah- yeah I'm good. Come on, let me buy you a drink.”
Neteyam was clearly pleased at this answer. He smiled slowly, nodding his head. “Okay.”

What happens when the Sully family reveives several alarming letters in the mail, forcing them to move to a small island called Awa'atlu? And, what happens when Neteyam comes to realize their hosts eldest son isnt actually that bad..

Summary
"You just think you're so pretty, forest boy," he retorted, rolling his eyes before abruptly turning around and walking away.
Even in the darkness, Neteyam could make out the way the metkayina's nape and the tips of his ears were growing purple-ish. Then again, he was standing pretty close to the other.
Just because he could, and because he couldn't help but feel a little amused by the other's flustered self, he added loud enough only for Aonung to hear:
"I never said I was 'pretty', but thank you for the compliment.”
Neteyam turned around quickly on his heels before Aonung could see the grin on his lips.
He couldn't help it. It was a little funny.
(And maybe a little endearing.)
or Neteyam was very good at ‘putting Aonung in place’. (Maybe Aonung liked Neteyam’s methods a little too much.)

Summary
There was a wide-eyed gaze of amazement and wonder in Neteyam's big eyes, big like his mother's, as he tried to catch the bubbles. Jake couldn't help his soft chuckle at the disgruntled little blink and nose scrunch Neteyam would do whenever the bubbles popped on his fingers.
A sweet beaming smile framed his chubby little face, bunny teeth on display. He squeaked happily every time the pilot blew more bubbles, perfectly content to play on his own.
And in that moment, Jake couldn't help being reminded of his mate. When they'd first met, she was all adorable and feisty— scary, yes, but in a way he couldn't help being mesmerized by. He remembered her pretty face lighting up as the atokirina floated around them in the forest. Her awed giggles as she'd hopped and tried to catch one was a precious sound he held near.
Neteyam looked exactly like her, standing barely ten feet away from him, and Jake somehow felt like he was falling in love all over again.

Summary
Distanced from home and its comfort, the Sully’s are swept under a new tide as war threatens Pandora–once again. However, an olive branch is extended by the Metkayina Clan, giving the Sully’s a chance to begin harvesting a new life. Slowly, Awa’atlu turns into a home away from home offering warmth, community and safety. It is in this softness, in the quiet of Jake and Neytiri’s fireside whispered conversations, and the Sully siblings’ laughter, that Neteyam’s skin crawls with a fear he’s never felt before.
Only a few huts away, Ao’nung wrestles with the same feeling.
There is something the two boys share: beyond their obligations as the first-born sons of the Olo’eyktan, their boisterous attitudes, and charisma. Burning low and quiet within their chests is an insatiable curiosity each has for the other: the kind that calls for the use of all six senses.
It’s much easier to keep quiet about these things than confront them though. Do these two warriors have the bravado to step foot into unknown waters?

Summary
The Metkayina do not rush the current. They adorn, they wait, they let the sea speak first. But Neteyam has always been a son of a different world,

Summary
When Aonung noticed Neteyam stepping out of the marui, he purposely stepped forward, and almost forgot his 'objective' when he ended up mistakenly gauging.
He wasn't supposed to be bumping too close to the omatikayan boy, but he ended up bumping close enough that they clashed, shoulder to shoulder.
Something inside him tingled and preened at the way the omatikayan boy had to tilt his face to look at him.
The small smile playing on Neteyam's lips was quickly replaced with a scowl. A frown. A pout.
Aonung wasn't sure how to describe it, but it made his gaze linger.
or Aonung riled Neteyam up too much, and then tried making amends. (He's lucky Neteyam had always been so forgiving - and that he maybe returned ‘some’ of the metkayina’s feelings.)

Summary
So would it really be a stretch to assume that, maybe, Aonung was going out of his way to keep his schedule clear for Neteyam because he liked him? Or at least because he liked spending time with him?
He wasn't getting ahead of himself, was he?
But he had no way of testing his 'theory'.
A hand tucking his braid behind his ear snapped Neteyam out of his thought, and the omatikayan focused his attention back on his current companion - who looked a mixture of amused and fond as the said companion observed aloud:
"You're spacing out again."
Neteyam didn't have the heart to swat the lingering hand away.
"I'm thinking."
"About what?"
"About how you've changed so much."
It wasn't the entire truth, but it was a part of it.
or Neteyam miraculously survived, and his first order of business? To find out whether a certain metkayina boy returns his feelings or not. (Aonung absolutely does.)
