    Of course he knows he’s a pawn. He’s far too intelligent to not have figured that one out. But, still, he complies. He follows along because who else does he have? He’s abandoned, Quirkless, functionally useless to civilian society. At least this way he can be as close as possible to his childhood dreams of heroism.

    Merely days after getting attacked by a sludge villain, Izuku Midoriya is kidnapped by the Yakuza for his quirklessness. When the repercussion of not doing what he’s told is a little girl getting experimented on and tortured, Midoriya decides the only option is to obey regardless of consequences.

    One of these long-term consequences somehow became seeing his kidnapper as a father figure and not knowing how to make it stop. Overhaul’s constant praise certainly isn’t helping!!

    After a grueling battle in the U.A. Sports Festival, Aizawa Sensei begins training Hitoshi after school.

    Hitoshi knows he doesn’t deserve it, but he accepts anyway.

    Aizawa Sensei notices the cracks in Hitoshi’s carefully maintained facade, bruises hidden beneath his sleeves, a perpetually empty stomach, exhaustion too deep to blame on schoolwork.
    He helps Hitoshi get removed and put into a new home.Now he’s in U.A’s hero course, not being beaten for the first time in his life, and he even starts to believe the lie that Aizawa might care about him.

    But his new foster father is… off. He lingers too long. Presses too close. Watches too intently.

    As the lines blur and danger creeps in again, Hitoshi must decide whether to speak up and risk everything, or stay silent, and survive.

    Quirkless kids don’t get to be heroes.
    Yakuza lieutenants and vigilantes definitely don’t.

    Yet Izuku Midoriya is all of the above, and it's terrifying the people in charge.

    Raised by the Shie Hassaikai and mentored by Stain, Izuku has learned that the world is not kind, and that’s exactly how those in power like it.

    Now All for One wants him.
    The HPSC wants him erased.
    The heroes want to work with him.

    But he finally has people to protect, and he’ll burn the world before he loses them.
    And if the whole hero society burns with it, who could blame him?

    Midoriya Izuku has always been written off as weird. As if it's not bad enough to be the quirkless weakling, he has to be the weird quirkless weakling on top of it.

    But truthfully, the "weird" part is the only part that's accurate. He's determined not to be a weakling, and in spite of what it says on paper, he's not actually quirkless. Even before meeting All-Might and taking on the power of One For All, Izuku isn't quirkless.

    Not that anyone would believe it if he told them.
