Summary
When Benjen Stark dies with a warning of the Others, Ned Stark is forced to prevent the Long Night. In doing so, he triggers a holy war between the Faith of the Seven, the Old Gods and the order of R’hllor, shattering the Seven Kingdoms and killing millions. The main point of divergence from the original Legends chronology is Dark Empire: in this story, Palpatine was never cloned and died permanently in Return of the Jedi.

Summary
It is the forty-first millennium of Man, and the God-Emperor has rotted on his throne immobile for ten thousand years. A corpse-fire that burns for the sake of delaying the darkness of the warp from falling in full upon the Galaxy. The promise of a better future is long dead, and with enemies at all sides, mankind seems doomed to a slow and inevitable extinction.
Then along comes a scrawny psyker, ready to be soul-bound and made into yet another Astropath, who knows all together far more than he should. About the nature of the warp, about long prehistory, about secrets that the Inquisition would burn planets to acquire or hide- and most especially, about his Thirteenth Son's potential revival.
The Emperor doesn't hesitate to take advantage.
