ARTEMIS JAY CONNOR has never lived without a war.
Even as a girl, only nineteen years old, when she dressed in her father's clothes to serve her country.
Everyone said the same thing: Communism was an evil that had to be stopped; these were the Cold War years. Dangerous times. If a great man like President Kennedy could be shot in broad daylight by a Red in Dallas, how could any American feel safe? Everyone agreed that communism couldn't be allowed to flourish in Asia, and Vietnam was the place to stop it.
Decades later, Artemis fought in the War on Terror as the new Captain America, until Steve Rogers came back onto the scene in 2012 and she passed the mantle back. She worked alongside S.H.I.E.L.D because she had nothing—no home, no family left—but her best friends 67' Chevy Impala that she treats as if he's coming back for it. It was Nick Fury who offered her purpose and a chance to exorcise her demons, and to be more than the empty ghost casing that could take a punch, and fight battles that others never could.

Indiana Margaret Stark, once an Avenger, one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, sort vengeance until she joined the Avengers and fought for something bigger than herself. Then Ultron won, and her "friends from work" were ruthlessly murdered. Now Indiana is on her own again.
She went to Eternity and wished for a chance to start over. Indiana woke up in a world she had only seen in comic books.
Indiana attempts to be subtle in this new world (despite exceling in attracting unwanted attention), as she comes face-to-face with The Batman. To distract herself from her grief, Indiana takes to trolling him.
