Jiang Cheng is nervous.
He shouldn’t be, he knows that—it’s one Sect Leader meeting another one even if Lan Qiren is just filling in the role for Lan Xichen—but he has nothing but respect for Lan Qiren and he can’t imagine why the other man would call him in, except to yell at him in that way the Lans have.
Quietly and restrained but with the disdain and disappointment dripping from every word.
Jiang Cheng wonders what he did wrong now and how Lan Qiren will reprimand him for it.

Summary
Kojiro had done so much for him for no reason at all, he supported him in a race he didn’t want Kaoru to race, seeing a similar outcome that Kaoru always had. He made him feel seen in a way no one else did, held his hand as he led him to his death, happy to be there beside him if Kaoru decided it was what he wanted.
“Kojiro?” He found himself whispering, the only reply being a loud snore, evidence of his discomfort. “Are you asleep?” It was a stupid question with an obvious answer, but Kaoru released a sigh of relief when the man still didn’t stir. “Okay. I just wanted to say thank you.” He whispered, squeezing Kojiro’s hand with a smile he knew was sickeningly sweet, unable to contain the emotion any longer. “Thank you for giving me the chance to love you. Thank you for being someone to love.”

“Pour me another glass, Gorilla.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
Kojiro reached over and emptied the bottle of wine into Kaoru’s glass.
“Alright, it’s gone, you’re cut off for the night,” Kojiro said, setting the empty bottle on the side table next to the couch. “You had three glasses at the restaurant tonight; you’re already drunk enough as it is.”
In which Kaoru is stressed and gets really drunk, which leads to him saying some things he probably never would've otherwise.
