There’s a sign in front of Shane. It says Welcome to Scott Hunter and Kip Grady’s Happily Ever After in a cursive font that makes Shane think of Etsy. Shane’s stomach churns. He briefly squeezes his empty ring finger. He feels, all at once, like he might cry. Instead, he swallows, and breathes, and pastes a smile on his face, and marches his ass down to Scott and Kip’s fucking wedding of the century.

The question causes everyone around him to fall into tense stillness and silence. Damian watches as his brothers glance at each other, before turning their gazes towards Pennyworth and their father. Pennyworth’s grip tightens almost imperceptibly around the stethoscope in his hands he’d been about to put away, and Damian’s gaze shifts towards his father.
“Dick is gone, son. It - it’s been some time now, since he died at the hands of the Crime Syndicate.”

Summary
Bruce buried his fingers in Dick’s hair, holding him, intent on never letting him go. Dick won’t die. Bruce was never going to let Dick die before him. He would cover his son entirely with his body, shelter him, open up his own chest so he could place Dick in there and keep him safe within his armour. Death was going to have to tear through Bruce’s chest if She wanted to drag his son out of the cavity where Bruce’s heart beat. Dick was not going to die.
