Summary
[Cross-posting from ff dot net!] There's a lot to process when Ed and Al finally come home. Named after the Courtney Barnett/Kurt Vile song, this is a breakfast buffet of quick & delicious two-year-gap stories that will eventually take us all the way to seeing Ed off at the station. Featuring automail shop talk, physiotherapy hell, dates gone wrong, career moves, crime-fightin', unexpectedly fancy dinner parties and emotionally significant acts of interior design. Manga-verse, and as aggressively canon-compliant as possible, with a lot of focus on Ed, Al and Winry figuring out how to fit knowing the truth about the Amestrian state into their new lives. See also: being normal, having hobbies, working, interacting with the neighbour kids, unraveling unexpected family secrets, learning new recipes and yes, coping with the longterm impacts of trauma.
There WILL be a sequel (with higher rating) and a companion piece in the same continuity, but this fic will be solidly T For Teen.

She wanted to ramble on about all the things he had missed while he’d been off studying, because of course even after life-changing events like saving an entire country, he still couldn’t be bothered to call home, but she could feel an odd air of tension hanging between them. It had lingered from the moment he stepped off the train and she had hugged him in greeting. And she had a sneaking suspicion as to why.
“Edward,” she said.
He nearly dropped his suitcase on her foot. “Huh, what?”
Winry sighed. She had to do everything herself, didn’t she?
“Are we going to talk about what you said before you left?”
