Summary
Robert had been listening to the Sea ever since he was old enough to read from the Book of the Deep. Unfortunately, that privilege had set a target on his back—literally. Now stranded on unfamiliar shores, he makes a “temporary” career as a night fisherman; but after several people worm their way into his life, it seems his place of residence may not be as temporary as he thought.

Summary
Robert's grandad had always told him stories of tall, terrible tales of men and women who turned into bats and would swoop down, picking up naughty kids. He brushed these off in his adulthood, believing fantastical things didn't exist. Up until he was asked to find a missing businessman who disappeared in strange circumstances and was found in even stranger ones.
