Summary
There had been a few – only a few – advantages to being a Kingsguard. Jaime was reasonably well acquainted with the hidden ways into the Red Keep; knowledge of them was necessary for protection of the royal family. Not that I was much good at it. Three kings died on my watch, one at my hand, plus two heirs to the throne, and two princesses. Were I still Lord Commander, I could record that in the White Book.
But he would not allow his second son, the bastard King, to be added to the tally.

Summary
The rules of the game change when Jaime Lannister is captured. But luckily, Tywin Lannister soon learns that Jaime had an affair with one sword-wielding Brienne of Tarth - an affair that might result in a legitimisable child. If he thinks that might be reason enough to distract Brienne from her rescue plans, however, he might have miscalculated.
