The Master Sword is known for being picky with her wielders, refusing to be held by those who are not deemed worthy. As a result, each incarnation of the Hero's Soul will always find the blade waiting for them wherever their predecessor set it down for the final time.
This is not always a good thing.
(It is rare for heroes die with the Master Sword in hand. Even rarer for heroes to not be given a proper burial.)
(The Fallen Hero has always been the worst-case scenario.)

Summary
As private investigators, Michael and Christine saw a lot of cases. This one stood out, in that they were looking to find out what happened to someone who vanished eight years ago, to give the grieving father some closure about his sons fate. A sad, but low stakes case.
Until the victims laptop led Michael to a shady corporation, infiltrating a product demonstration. A product that turned out to be people, brainwashed people with supercomputers inside their heads.
And the example at the demo turned out to be the victim they were looking for. -

Jeremy was not interested in Michael Mell. All he wanted to do was work on a school project, find out if Mell had learned anything incriminating while stalking Jeremy, and play some video games. That was it. That was the only reason he agreed to come over to his house.
It got a little out of hand.

Summary
When Kaneki ran into the ghoul investigator who he'd fought in the rain, he hadn't expected to form a friendship with him. Despite the danger and hopelessness of convincing a man who'd made it his life's mission to eradicate ghouls, Kaneki couldn't help but enjoy Amon's company. He didn't deserve it and Amon would only see their friendship as a betrayal when he'd inevitably find out, but he still found himself looking forward to the mornings when Amon would chat with him while he'd make him a coffee.
Amon had never formed any sort of relationship outside of the CCG. His life revolved around ghouls, but when he met Kaneki, he found himself opening up. He didn't even particularly enjoy coffee, but it didn't take long for him to become a regular at the cafe Kaneki worked at. Something about Kaneki was more interesting than any ghoul, and while Amon couldn't put a name to the feeling, what he did know was that he couldn't get enough of Kaneki.
Unfortunately though, secrets never remained hidden for long.
